Bible Study - 1 Timothy 6:1-2

This is my first time truly sitting down and studying Timothy. From what I know he is the overseer of the Ephesian church. Paul was writing to praise and encourage them to continue in the way of the LORD.

1 Timothy 6

1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered.
Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare of their slaves.
Paul speaks of those still under the yoke of slavery, I believe he is talking to those who have not properly adjusted the LORD's yoke firmly upon their shoulders. I say this because through out the New Testament, JESUS speaks of his true followers as friends, brothers and sisters.

The general idea is that we start out in our journey with CHRIST as slaves. As we progress we grow into different roles for GOD. We graduate from the begrudged slave to one who understands that their part is important even when their role is a minor one.
"Compared to JESUS, all of our parts are minor."
Everything we do is for CHRIST's sake. For his honor and glory and pleasure; so that everything we do, little or small, is done to the best of our abilities and with the utmost respect and confidence.
